A ranking policeman who jumped to the help of a fellow officer that was assaulted by a knifeman has been awarded the Royal Recognition for Courage.
Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown following he held a knife to the neck of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown initiated the assault as the law enforcement personnel and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist after a road collision in Whalley Range in July 2023.

Officials stated Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to stop his fellow officer's blood loss before paramedics came.
The new recognition comes subsequent to the trio of policemen were granted departmental Courage Honors in October 2023 and the police federation award from the regional Police Federation in early 2024.
