Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident near Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge comes as the boxing community offered its support for the champion in the wake of the devastating accident.
